Houston we have a problem :)

Hello there gang, I have a problem and I hope you guys can help me out. I’ve been using “Hip Gear” brand Psone memory cards to store the data from my PSone games. Recently my PS2 has been giving me error messages when I’ve tried to either read or write from them. When I broke out my old Psone I couldn’t get it to recognize them (it would give me the error message “memory card not inserted” even when the memory card was firmly put into place-and trying another card gives me the same message). Has anyone else received a lot of problems with the “Hip Gear” brand of memory card as I have? What’s a good memory card brand to use for the PSone? Please advise.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, the problem is that you started out with a non-Sony memory card. While this might not be an issue for things like SD, CF, or other general pupose memory cards, it’s a risk to use off-brand cards for Playstations. It’s unlikely you’ll ever get that data off of there, but one option, if it’s REALLY IMPORTANT, is to get a PS memory card reader accessory for your PC, and try to copy them off of there. It’s possible that the data is corrupted, though, so that would be a waste of money.
your first step should be to go purchase SONY memory cards to replace any off-brand ones you still have, and copy your saves from the crap cards to the Sony ones, ASAP, before you lose more game saves. I’ve never even heard of that brand, so I’m not surprised you lost your games. You have my sympathies, though. I’ve lost game saves for other reasons, and it’s really annoying.
